Outreach

"Think global, act local" is the new phrase relating to the connections or relationships between global and local businesses, problems, etc. We believe that GODVERSITY Chapters are just that. Why?

outreach programs
The Godversity Outreach Program(GOP) give students the opportunity to get involved in community service on a regular basis, with projects to choose from almost monthly. Projects are student-led and are offered at a variety of agencies. Students can sign up for projects as early as one week in advance and up to the day of the project. Space is limited so signing up early is strongly encouraged.
To participate, stop by the center to sign up in the project binders, and then arrive at the center on the project date at the designated arrival time (according to the schedule). You will be greeted by the project facilitator, and he/she will be responsible for taking attendance, getting the group introduced to one another, and preparing everyone for the project. The facilitator will then transport the group to the agency to volunteer, using Center vans, and he/she will supervise you on site.
After the service, the facilitator will lead the group in a reflection discussion in hopes of helping volunteers make the most meaning from their service experience.
Most community outreach projects do not require a long-term commitment. Instead, the aim of the Community Outreach Program allows students to explore various volunteer opportunities and learn more about the local nonprofit community. The hope is that students who participate in this program will discover an agency or volunteer project that they especially enjoy and they will want to continue signing up and volunteering with the project throughout the semester/year. Those who do find a project they enjoy or an agency or community issue they really care about, and who want to take their service to another level, taking on the role of volunteer advocate and community educator are encouraged to apply to be a GOP Facilitator.

Godversity Community Outreach FAQ
My student organization is interested in participating in an outreach project; can I sign us all up?
Thank you for your interest in community service. The Community Outreach Program is intended to give individual students who are not already connected with a student group or program the opportunity to feel connected, meet new people, and serve the community. Therefore, it is not an ideal program for student groups. If you are interested in having your organization participate in a group service project, please contact center advising to learn about other opportunities that will be better suited to your student group.
Do I have to commit to an outreach project every week?
No. The Godversity Outreach Program is intended to be an exploratory program. Therefore, depending on your schedule and availability, you can sign up for projects on a week-to-week basis and participate as often as you wish. Unless otherwise stated, the projects do not require any long-term commitment, so you can sign up for a project once to see what it's like and not feel obligated to go again. But if you enjoy participating in an outreach project, we encourage you to continue volunteering as often as you are able. If you want to have a regularly scheduled, semester-long service experience, consider applying to be an outreach facilitator.
There's a specific agency that I am interested in, but I can't find it on the outreach schedule. Can I not participate in it now?
If an agency is not listed on the outreach schedule, it simply means that we do not currently have a project with that agency. If you are interested in volunteering with that agency, you can make arrangements with the agency directly or talk with the Godversity Outreach Director about starting an outreach project at the agency you are interested in. The outreach program is very much student-led and student-initiated. We welcome the opportunity to expand our service trips.
